We are supporting people across the Humber region

Our Expansion to the South Bank

We know that a significant gap remains in community support for individuals and families affected by Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in North and North-east Lincolnshire. Many people in these areas need the vital services provided by P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery, but face barriers such as limited social connections, lack of transport, financial constraints, and health challenges.

To address this, we are expanding into the region with a second site, launching in summer 2025. Our vision is to create a supportive, inclusive community where individuals affected by ABI feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Our Long-Term Vision

Our ultimate goal is to replicate the successful model we have established in Hull. Initially, we aim to build a thriving, welcoming community where service users can connect, share their experiences, and support one another on their journey toward a fulfilling life after brain injury.

Meet some of our inspirational service users who live in North-East and North Lincolnshire

Our service users are truly inspirational people, each with their own personal story and journey of recovery from brain injury.

We have built a thriving, supportive social community where people encourage and support one another towards living a happy and meaningful life.

“After an accident left me with a catastrophic brain injury, doctors said I would not survive.”

After a year of being in the hospital, I met the team at P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery and my life changed again, this time for the better. They supported me through everything, made me feel welcome and helped me with my challenges.  It was amazing to meet people who understood me and who have been through similar experiences.”

Beth - Grimsby

“Following a brain injury, it had taken away any independence I had. I can’t do anything any more, I’ve no independence, nothing. The charity mentioned, we have this gym session and we have yoga, and that was a major turning point for me.”

“But I’m back to doing a little bit and that feels good.”

Jan - Brigg

“After having an awake craniotomy, I had been given a pack with details about what the charity could provide. On discharge from hospital, I visited the charity, who were lovely. They are so kind, caring and understanding!”

  • Forthcoming P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery events

Events on the South Bank

The Humber Bridge Sportive is the first of many events to be held in North and North East Lincolnshire. We encourage you to get involved, show your support, and help us raise awareness for P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery on the South Bank.

Since its inception in 2014, over 5000 riders have taken part in the Humber Bridge Sportive, raising more than £125,000 for local charities.

This remarkable achievement is thanks to the generosity of business sponsors and efforts of the local community in supporting those in need.

After serving as the event’s charity partner for the past three years, we are delighted to take the reins this year, with the support of the event founders Ian Nichols and Andy Cawley.

Humber Bridge Sportive 2025

This year’s event will be based at Barton Town Football Club, which has generously offered its site and facilities due to planned engineering works taking place on the Humber Bridge.

We are tremendously grateful for their support, which ensures the routes remain largely unchanged.

For further information on the Humber Bridge Sportive event, please visit our Humber Bridge Sportive Website.

Supporting Our Expansion

Funds raised from this year’s Sportive will directly contribute towards establishing and growing our new sites based in North and North-East Lincolnshire. This expansion will allow us to provide vital support to individuals and families based in North-East and North Lincolnshire communities.
