Really happy to be introducing my page logo. A special thanks to my friend, Sarah Robson, who has designed it. She is an absolute star! The aim is for this logo to be a symbol of hope to people affected by brain injury.

The holidays are over, and life is back to some sort of normality. I’m feeling positive and ready for the year ahead: new milestones – new experiences – new challenges. Onwards and upwards.

Anyone affected by a brain injury will be able to associate with this narrative. The consequences are life changing and can be really distressing. Reach out for help and advice if you need it – try to keep moving forward each day the best you can. Invest time in your health whilst you accept and adapt to a new way of being.

I have fallen a million times during my recovery, but I just wouldn’t stay down. No matter how hard things become, you get back up and keep going forward. Reach out for support if you need it.

Things can get easier over time. There can be great things ahead.

Unemployed after brain injury – I left my job as an electrician four months ago now. I miss being a skilled tradesman. I miss the times on site with my old work friends. I have been frightened for the future. I am not sure what’s ahead. But, I will not force unnecessary suffering on myself. I will not hide behind people. I accept my limitations and move on. There will be another career out there for me.

Week 15 of my marathon challenge. The miles are building up! It was my toughest week so far. It was great to have support!

Paul’s 10K & Family Fun day. I’m really looking forward to my third annual running event. Always a great atmosphere with family, friends and kind members of the public.

This will be the last leg of my marathon and complete my 26-week challenge.

Posters are starting to go up in HRI. It was surreal to be promoted on the stairs, in the canteen and at other places around the hospital. I hope it reaches and helps people affected.

Great things can still be achieved after brain injury!

January 25, 2015

Week 16 of my marathon challenge. I completed a 16-mile run to the Yorkshire coast. This was the furthest I have ever run!

It was tasty! This link shows spices and their benefits for the brain. It’s a great excuse for a curry:
